Army Corps of Engineers Flood Study?

Now that the Army Corp of Engineers apparently toured the area on Friday, March 14th 2025, it will be interesting to see what may have changed since the 2019 Study - we can think of a few; Ida, increased rainfall predictions, and an election?

Bloomfield Citizens have been BEGGING our town leaders for flood mitigation ACTIONS by the town - as recently as March 10th 2025.
Please watch the standing room only September 9, 2024 Town Council Meeting Public Comment to hear the stories of overwhelming losses our neighbors have suffered as recently as last summer.
For the past year, we have been vocally demanding the completion and public review of Remington & Vernick's long-overdue $1.5m Flood Engineer Study.
We have been answered either by rolling eyeballs and distracted texting at the 9/9/2024 standing room only packed Council Meeting...too many vague "soon..." answers ... and even a condescending "you don't need to know everything going on" by our mayor.
Last week a photo opp appeared to announce the creation of a multi-town flood alliance. Was this just a campaign photo opp? Why didn't the mayor share this information with us? what was the goal, who is in the "alliance"? and what is the result of the "tour"?
We still have not had transparent communication about flood actions to protect our homes. And after three years, the Remington Vernick Flood study has still not been released. In fact, on March 10th, 2025 the town Engineer requested another $100,000 worth of our tax dollars for more work by Remington & Vernick.

What the hell is going on here?!

Sadly, the previous study ended in no action:
"The study has been suspended and no further work will be conducted unless requested by the State of New Jersey. Additionally, a modification of the authorization would also likely be needed to address the congressional prohibition on use of funds for the tunnel element of the project."
Let's hope for a better outcome this time.
