On Feb 24, 2025 members of the Bloomfield Sustainability Network showed up at the town council meeting to hear the long awaited "Solar Presentation"

The Solar Committe has been advocating for Solar for NINE Years. Yet the town of Bloomfield has kicked the can so long, and have delayed implementing sustainable practices once again.

At the February 10th Council meeting, Jane Califf, Coordinator of Bloomfield Citizen's Solar Campaign stated: "At the last Town Council meeting [on January 27th] , I said that this is the 9th year that the Bloomfield Citizens Solar Campaign has been speaking out for our town to join the clean energy movement. We have urged our town to move away from polluting fossil fuel energy and toward a clean energy future by putting solar panels over appropriate buildings and parking lots. This would save taxpayer dollars and the environment.

I asked what progress had been made in the contract Bloomfield made with Talva Energy to put solar panels over 3 parking lots behind the Municipal Building, the Police Station and over the Glenwood Parking Garage. I was told that there would be a report at this meeting. Is there?"

The answer from Mayor Mundell and Township Administrator Anthony DeZenzo was that there would be a report at the next meeting from the financial advisors for the town and that Talva Energy CEO Adam Taylor would be present.

24 hours before this February 24 Council Meeting appeared an agenda item 'Solar Presentation' (not communicated to the Solar Committee). With such short notice, only a few members of Bloomfield Sustainability Network were able to attend.

But the billed 'Solar Presentation' was in fact not a presentation at all. Talva Energy was not present. Instead a paid consultant (read: your tax money), Heather from NW Financial (a political contributor), who only mentioned they had looked at two out of the three promised sites, and said it was not the time to look at Solar installations because of the financial instability of the current administration.

5 minutes later, the Council approved over 90 budget items in one vote, all budget items presumably also at risk from financial instability of the current administration.

The Feb 24 Council meeting is not available on the township's website, only on Facebook Live.
