Local Bloomfield Activists Joined with National Hands Off Movement
on Saturday April 5 in the Bloomfield Municipal Building and on Bloomfield Avenue.
Local Bloomfield community activists organized the event in front of the Municipal Building Saturday morning, April 5, to protest the disturbing actions of the Trump/Musk Administration. On this day, more than 1,000 local communities around the country, held similar actions, with the largest one planned for Washington, DC.
We estimate that 500 people took part, despite the freezing rain. This was a nonviolent, family-friendly, peaceful protest. Organizers urged people of all ages, including children whose future is threatened and seniors whose Social Security payments are at risk, to take part in this important action. People brought homemade signs expressing their opinion about what has been happening to our country since January 20.
The Solidarity Singers engaged the crowd from all over the area, and protesters engaged in songs and chants.
The broad national coalition of scores of groups called for this action, explained why it was being organized:
“This is a nationwide mobilization to stop the most brazen power grab in modern history. Trump, Musk and their billionaire cronies are orchestrating an all-out assault on our government, our economy and our basic rights—enabled by Congress every step of the way.”
