On March 4th Jenny Mundell hosted another meet-n-greet event in the 2nd Ward.
Since our questions are rarely answered during Town Council Meetings during Public Comment unless the campaign cameras are rolling, many citizens feel these scripted fireside vibe events are the only way we can get answers.
And half answers we get.
When asked why there has not been an update to flood mitigation, Mundell stated she has been meeting separately with a regional flooding team, but she has yet to share any info with us - the public - despite citizens asking for months for an update on Flood mitigation plans.
Jane Califf asked why the Flood Committee has been shut out of these regional flood discussions. Mundell stated (incorrectly) here that she "hasn't heard anything from the Committee yet." The committee meetings are Public, anyone can attend, especially the mayor!

Ted Glick followed up with questions related to the ongoing push for implement of Solar in Bloomfield. The Citizen's Solar Campaign has been advocating for Solar in Bloomfield for NINE Years.
Both Solar and Flood mitigation could have been funded by grants and the Infrastructure bill - had the town not delayed so long.
The Mayor seems to employ a recurring strategy of delay, then blames "high costs". In reality, the town missed critical funding deadlines - yet managed to find $10m for the Vo-Tech purchase?
The same 'it costs too much' scare tactic was also used when the engineers tacked on a last minute spreadsheet to the flood report last fall.
This slippery evasion is just a way for the political machine to avoid the hard work to make Bloomfield safer and more sustainable town. We call B.S.
